Roy Christie Brumfield (Chris), 69, passed away February 5, 2018 in Charleston after a brief illness. Relatives and friends of Chris are invited to attend a Requiem Mass and celebration of his life at 11 A.M. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Church of the Holy Communion, 218 Ashley Avenue, Charleston.

Chris was the son of the late Howard Dean Brumfield and Jessie Christie Brumfield. He was born in Rome, Georgia and grew up in Rock Hill, South Carolina, graduating from Rock Hill High School in 1966 and the University of South Carolina in 1972. Following a long and successful sales career in the software and construction industries with John H. Harland Company and W. H. Bass, Inc., Chris was the owner of RCB Consulting, LLC.

Chris was a long-time resident of Charleston and, with his late wife, Maralynne Mitcham, supported religious, cultural, and artistic events in the city of Charleston, and was often seen at Art Walks, local theatre plays, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and the Charleston Concert Association. When Maralynne created the Maralynne D. Mitcham Lectureship through the MUSC Foundation,

Chris was a strong supporter of this lectureship and the MUSC College of Health Professions along with his wife, and continued his support after her death. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Communion and of the Board of Trustees of the American Occupational Therapy Foundation. Chris enjoyed and excelled in his roles as husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Chris was friend and mentor to many, and enjoyed many dear friendships lasting 30, 40, and 50 years. In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his wife Maralynne D. Mitcham, his brother Patrick Brumfield, and his nephew Stephen Brumfield.

He is survived by his son Robert Dean Brumfield (Christy) and their children Alissa, Caleb, Brittany, Anna, and Riley, brother Clyde Brumfield, niece Jessie Brumfield, nephews Elliot Brumfield and Adam Wilson (Amber), sister-in-law Julia Brumfield, and great niece and nephew, Regan and Brady Wilson.

Memorials may be made to The Maralynne D. Mitcham Lectureship (CHP) Fund, 18 Bee Street, MSC 450, Charleston, South Carolina 29425-4500 or the Church of the Holy Communion, 218 Ashley Avenue, Charleston, South Carolina 29403.
